"Grandpa Dave's Old Country Farm" is the fifteenth episode of season 1 of Arthur. It's written by Matt Steinglass, and the storyboards by Jean Pagan Normaroen. It aired December 16, 1996 with "Arthur's Family Vacation".
Plot
Arthur and D.W. are going to spend a week with their Grandpa Dave at his farm. They say that it is the funest place on earth. Also there's a County fair coming up. Grandpa Dave gets the kids candy.They then arrive, But it doesn't look like it was before. They then go swimming in Grandpa Dave's pond. Later that night, Grandpa Dvae tells Arthur and D.W. how the farm had been in their family for a 150 years. When Arthur and D.W. go to bed, D.W. finds some chikens in her room which she doesn't like. Grandpa Dave tells them that he had to put them in there because the hane house roof fell in. The next day, Arthur asks Grandpa Dave if they can fix the hen house, but Grandpa Dave thought they could go fishing. They agree and head off. Later that day, Grandpa Dave gets the kids ice cream. D.W. asks Grandpa Dave to get lumber that order early to pick up. One of Grandpa Dave's friends, Ed, offers him help to fix the chicken's coop (the hen house) but, Dave won't let him. Grandpa Dave eventually gets the lumber that he order.
- They next day, Grandpa Dave let's Ed watch Arthur and D.W. He takes them up to Mount Springle. D.W. asks Ed why Grandpa Dave doesn't want any help. Ed says that he's a real indapendent and doesn't like to accept help from people. When they get back, Grandpa Dave had hardly done any work leaving D.W. and Arthur shocked. Later that night, D.W. tells Arthur that they should give up the fair tomorrow to fix the chiken coop. The next day, Grandpa Dave tells Arthur and D.W. that they were going to the fair. Arthur then tells him that they have to stay home and build the hen house. They thern start working on the place. Although, it doesn't go that well, Ed arrives, and asks Dave for help. He accepts, then they start working on it together. Later that day, the finally finish fixing the hen house. Arthur and D.W.'s parents arrive to pick them up. Although, the farm still needs fixing, Grandpa Dave asks Ed for some help fixing it.
